Maria da Mouraria settled in the house of Severa, where the tradition states to have lived the mythical singer. Maria da Mouraria was established as a pole of development and promotion of fado in this Lisbons’ traditional neighborhood.
In connection with the Fado Museum, Maria da Mouraria offers several cultural initiatives related to fado and provides a catering service in a space completely renovated for this purpose. Helder Moutinho is in charge for the film screenings, gatherings and fadistices (fado happenings).
The recovery of the house of Severa is part of a State Action Programme, entitled QREN Mouraria, promoted by the Lisbon City Council.
